Fit #1
A bulldog motif tie. It doesn’t get more classic preppy than this. Did I start with the tie? No. But, it did come fairly quickly. I started this fit with one of my spring favorites, the light green OCBD. It’s hard to find off the rack, but not hard to find custom. I had this one made by Ratio Clothing. Up until about a week ago, I thought they were going out of business because it seemed like all of their fabrics were out, but apparently they are still alive. You can also find this color from Proper Cloth. They also make great custom shirts. Ratio Clothing, Proper Cloth, and Spier and Mackay are all makers that offer custom shirts made exactly to the measurements you provide. They have some of the same fabrics, but there is also some variance. Sometimes, one maker will offer one fabric another one doesn’t. Between all three, you have a great selection.
There are two reasons why I have a soft spot for Ratio. They can do an unlined collar and lower the second button enough so that it essentially mirrors the placement on the old Brooks Brothers six button fronts. Proper Cloth and Spier are both amazing, and offer beautiful unlined collars and unique other options as well. But the lowering of the second button enough to create the six button front placement is something Ratio does that the others don’t. Proper Cloth will lower it, but not the same amount. For this reason, I really have a soft spot for them. I am glad to see that apparently they are not going out of business. If you are looking for this shirt, you can order it from them. They have the fabric in stock. Choose Fitzgerald collar (unlined) for a nice roll.
