Fit #1
The blue university stripe OCBD may be the greatest shirt ever created.
(On the 8th day the blue university stripe was created.)
But a standard blue OCBD is still darn nice. It’s beloved for a reason. The one I am wearing here is slightly - ever so slightly - darker than a standard blue. It’s lovely. Little shade differences can really make a difference in certain circumstances.
Though don’t get too obsessive or emotionally attached to ever so slight differences in shade. It’s not the end of the world if something isn’t the exact shade you are hoping for. All that being said, it’s still nice to have a range of blues. A light blue OCBD is very different than this darker standard blue OCBD. They just have different attitudes. Most (but not all) of the same ties work with both, but some feel more right with one and less right with the other.
Take a light pink tie for example. It wouldn’t really work with this blue OCBD. This blue is too standard and utilitarian. It’s heavy. Dark. A light pink wouldn’t be right. On the other hand, a light pink tie would work with a light blue OCBD. Airy and airy. They complement one another. Now, to flip it, a burgundy tie would work wonderfully (and much better) with this darker blue. It would work just “okay” with a lighter blue.
