Good morning, everyone.

Culture is horizontal. People do things, other people see them doing those things, they either like them or don’t like them and they either do them or don’t do them. The more people like them and do them, the more other people like them and do them.

That’s basically how culture and general cultural trends are communicated in our society. It’s kind of how it always was. Of course in the distant past when traditional forms of hierarchy were a little more common there was a little more vertical communication of culture, but we haven’t had that same kind of direct vertical cultural communication for a while and horizontal culture was still there.
